Homeschooling
I am a happy homeschoolin’ mama, and longtime internet dabbler. Welcome to my untidy homepage.
For those who like to know such things, there’s a bio of me here. The UUYAN stuff is here too. I was thinking of gradually putting my bookshelf online. But mostly, these days, it’s mostly all about…
Homeschooling
Some of my homeschooling inspirations, sources and guides include:
- Attachment parenting
- Home Education Magazine
- Unschooling (John Holt – David H. Albert)
- My own Montessori childhood
- Susan Wise Bauer‘s The Well-Trained Mind (in moderation), particularly her Story of the World history and activity books.
- Local homeschooling families and groups (I keep in touch with AOHL, SFBUN, Homegrown Kids, BAGHS, East Hills 4H, and BAM-ME locally; plus GHF, TAGMAX, TAGFAM). This year (Fall 2010) we are also enrolled in the Connecting Waters charter school home study program.
- And a general enjoyment of my daughter’s company
Some books:
- Hold On to Your Kids: Why Parents Need to Matter More Than Peers by Gordon Neufeld, PhD. (Attachment parenting for school-age kids.)
- Creative Home Schooling: A Resource Guide for Smart Families by Lisa Rivero
- The Unschooling Handbook : How to Use the Whole World As Your Child’s Classroom by Mary Griffith
